The Action Research Group (ARG) at the University of Pennsylvania provides an open space for practitioners who work with kids in an education setting. ARG builds a community of practice through inquiry and action research projects, emotional support and wellness "check-ins," micro-PD sharing, and education scholarship.
- Inquiry and action research projects: Practitioners collaborate with the group and use a mix of research methods to explore and study an area of their work.
- Emotional support and wellness "check-ins": Each session begins with a go-around check in where all members can share a personal update and receive support from the group (We check in using MERPS = Mentally. Emotionally. Relationally. Physically. Spiritually.)
- Micro-PD sharing: Each session includes a brief mini-lesson from one of the members on a relevant education best practice.
- Education scholarship: ARG members have opportunities to present at conferences and write and publish their work in education journals .
